Welcome to Lady Bay Music Academy! The Academy exists to support a community of musicians through both in-person and online lessons and activities. I work across Lady Bay, West Bridgford, Ruddington and the wider Rushcliffe area.
I aim to give each student the all-round musicality and confidence to develop their playing and creative music-making. Through all my teaching, I aspire to develop rounded, enthusiastic and independent musicians, who most importantly find enjoyment in making music. Learning music-making should be fun and motivating, so you won’t just learn new pieces in piano lessons, but you’ll learn to improvise, harmonise – and soon enough you might be writing new pieces yourself.
As part of the Lady Bay Music Academy, you have access to the Bay Area, a continually-expanding online set of resources, technique and tips videos, discussion forum, fun quizzes, and blog updates on piano playing and musicality in the 21st century. For piano students, after each lesson, you will receive a short video summarising key points, demonstrating aspects of playing for you to work on in your own practice. There will also be resources giving practice tips, recommended listening, and supportive discussion of different musical techniques and styles. Composition students of all types will receive a video recapping the main points discussed and how you can develop your work in preparation for the next lesson.
Some people prefer to learn online, and I have an excellent studio set-up for online lessons of all types, with high-quality audio to support your learning. These online lessons are accompanied by supplementary teaching materials just the same as in-person lessons, so that you can practice and work on exercises in your own time.
Lessons last either 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes. Please contact me using the details below for lesson fees.
As a member of the Independent Society of Musicians, I adhere to their Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and have full DBS clearance.
